Vigas boilerVigas 25 - 80 kW
(Domestic and Commercial)

Dunster Wood Fuels are pleased to offer the full range of Vigas log fired central heating boilers.  There are four models ranging from 25kW to 80kW in nominal output.  In addition, there is a 25kW air heater model suitable for workshops.

All the boilers employ the latest "gasification down burning" technology and have sophisticated electronic controls that ensure maximum efficiency and minimum emissions.   All models comfortably exceed the best performance class of EN303-5, the British Standard governing solid fuel boilers.  This is true both for efficiency and for emissions.

Models 25-40 are eligible for grant aid under the Clear Skies programme.

The specifications for the Model 25 are as follows:

Vigas Specification Table

The boiler is supplied with a clear installation and maintenance manual and with cleaning tools.

The AK 2000 controller is equipped with a full function display and comes with three built in programmes but the user may enter up to six additional programmes to suit particular needs and any of the programmes may be selected at any time.

The manufacturer's full guarantee extends for the first full year's time in service not to exceed 18 months from date of purchase.

Vigas Vigas DP
VIGAS  18 DP
Combined ecological

Gasifying boiler for wood and pellets
Capacity  2 - 29  kW

The Vigas 18 DP is the latest thermal boiler produced by the company Vimar. It is a combination boiler designed for the combustion of dry timber materials including sawdust shavings woodchips briquettes and logs up to a maximum length of 35cm. In addition it is also designed to burn pellets.
Wood pellets are a fuel made by compressing dried and graded sawdust and shavings through a die to form a round pellet of approximately 8mm in diameter and 30mm in length.

The advantage of pellets is that they have a high calorific value and are regular in size. It is possible therefore to feed them into the combustion chamber automatically. This offers the opportunity to control and regulate the combustion process to a very high degree. The Vigas 18 DP Boiler is specifically designed to make the change from burning wood to pellets very simple by removing the clappet and changing the system of electronic combustion control.

Combustion Principle
1. Logs and Timber Materials. Gasification is carried out in the upper chamber of the boiler and material is fed by hand through the upper boiler door. One firing in this way lasts approximately for 2-12 hours depending upon the heat output.

2. Pellets.  Pellets are fed from the pellet store to be burned in the lower combustion chamber of the boiler by an auger conveyor.

One filling of the pellet store will last approximately 5 days depending on the heat output required. Ash is removed from the lower chamber. The heat exchanger requires cleaning approximately once a month.

Technical description
The boiler is welded from boilerplate of 4mm and 6mm thickness. The heat exchanger is welded from steel pipes. The concrete lining is made from refractory concrete and fireclay bricks are used in the combustion chamber. "NOBASIL"(TM) is used for heat insulation. A hot air blow gun is used for ignition of the pellets. A rotary valve is incorporated in the pellet feeding system as a safety feature to prevent burn back. The electronic control AK 2000 is part of the boiler and controls the gasifying process of wood and pellets automatically.

Vigas Technical

TS130
TS130 safety valve
TS130 is a safety valve which is connected to a cooling coil in the boiler and when the boiler temperature gets to 95 deg the valve opens and allows water into the coil which stops the boiler overheating.

Ventilator fan
A ventilator fan fits onto the flue and is an extra which can be fitted to assist the boiler fan to extract the smoke from the boiler - it stops any smoke coming out when the door is open.
